Prune shrubs in February-April
Late summer-flowering deciduous shrubs can be hard-pruned between February and March/April
- Buddleja davidii
- Hydrangea paniculata the more you prune, the larger the flowers
- Lavatera (mallow)
- Leycesteria
- Perovskia
- hardy fuchsias (you can wait for the new growth and then cut back the dead growth.
- Wisteria
Roses are best pruned in March to April. Cut long stems back by 1/2 to 2 thirds.
