Prune shrubs in February-April

Late summer-flowering deciduous shrubs can be hard-pruned between February and March/April

Buddleja davidii
Hydrangea paniculata the more you prune, the larger the flowers
Lavatera (mallow)
Leycesteria
Perovskia
hardy fuchsias (you can wait for the new growth and then cut back the dead growth.
Wisteria

Roses are best pruned in March to April. Cut long stems back by 1/2 to 2 thirds.
