Plant Area General Assistant

Fantastic Opportunity for someone who loves to work outdoors. Glendoick is in an award winning garden centre supplying quality plants to customers.

Full time year round post. 9am to 5pm. Working 10 days from 14 with every second weekend off.

Duties will include:

- Customer service and giving plant advice to customers

- Unloading and displaying plants, compost, pots in the plant area

- Forklift driving (unloading lorries) training can be provided.

- Looking after growing plants at the garden centre.

-EPOS (entering stock on the computer system) and production of signage.

- Occasional till work to cover breaks and holidays.

- Stock taking and any other garden centre tasks as required.

You MUST be a keen gardener and/or have studied horticulture. You will need to learn fast and be able to look up information for customers. You will like helping and inspiring customers to tell them how to get the best from their gardens. You will need to have initiative and drive and like working as a part of an excellent team in one of Scotland's best garden centres and plant specialists.

Our ideal candidate will have certification of training with a forklift but if you have good experience in working with gardens/plants, deliveries, and maintenance (or similar relevant experience) then you will still be considered for this role.

Benefits:

30% discount in the cafe on commencement of employment and 30% off in the garden centre after one years service (10% on perishables in the food hall).

28 days pro-rata holiday entitlement. The garden centre is closed on 25 & 26 December and usually from 1 - 4th January.
